Course Description
This course introduces students to the major world religions, exploring their beliefs, practices, and historical contexts. Emphasizing interfaith understanding, students will learn to apply these insights in diverse real-world settings, suitable for introductory-level study in religious diversity and dialogue.
What you will learn
- Comparative Analysis Skills: Write a 2,000-word comparative essay analyzing the core beliefs and practices of five major world religions, demonstrating an understanding of similarities and differences, to be submitted by Week 2.
- Critical Thinking and Reflection: Evaluate the social and cultural impact of the core beliefs and practices of five major world religions, using critical thinking and reflection, as part of the comparative essay due in Week 2.
- Project Design and Development: Design an interfaith community outreach project that fosters understanding and collaboration among different religious groups, outlining the project’s objectives, strategies, and anticipated outcomes, to be developed by Week 3.
- Presentation and Communication: Present the interfaith community outreach project in a final presentation, demonstrating effective communication skills and the ability to engage diverse audiences, to be completed by Week 4.
